THE organisers of a popular community event say they are ‘very sorry’ to confirm it is cancelled.
Residents in Penketh were gearing up in excitement for the return of Penketh Carnival for 2024.
The event was scheduled to take place at Greystone Rec on Saturday, July 20.
However, Penketh Carnival Association has sadly announced that it will not go ahead as planned this year due to work required at the venue.
A spokesman said: “We are so very sorry that we have to cancel this year’s carnival.
“Extensive drainage works are required on Greystone Rec, and these have been heavily delayed by the recent bad weather.
“We have looked at other dates and venue options, but unfortunately none are feasible.
“We will contact everyone that has already booked to attend this year’s carnival. Stallholders, please check your inboxes.
“As soon as we have news about 2025, we will let you all know.”
